Latest Our SHADOW collection it is special in several respects: on the one hand, it is a great pleasure for us to have the opportunity to work with two super-talented Hungarian designers on the collection, and our old dream has come true: this is the first NON + collection using a uniquely designed and manufactured material Balázs Viola designed whom we would like to present to those who do not yet know him.

Viola graduated from MOME’s textile design master’s degree in 2018 with a special scarf collection that is a personal-inspired project: processing inherited objects in classic textile patterns. Nostalgia, subjective memory and retro are often recurring elements in Viola's work, especially in her collaborations with Dór Tomcsányi, in which elements of the socialist object-cultural tradition are often quoted, building a sample collection from another collection.

Viola has already designed designs for many Hungarian fashion brands: her first illustrations were created for KELE, but her collaboration with the Tomcsányi brand is also one of the first and continues to this day in Viola's career. But we could also see Viola’s illustrations on YKRA’s backpacks as well as VYF’s fantastic silk scarves - Viola, the co-founder and pattern designer of this brand in one person.

Viola's works inspired by the moments of everyday life, the research process leading up to another task is especially exciting for him, which provides an opportunity to delve into previously unknown areas. Recently, he has been paying close attention to experimenting with continuous patterns and designing a battery with an exciting logical structure.

The birth of another illustration is preceded by plenty of sketches, hand-drawing, painting, and experimentation, and only then does the digital design phase follow. For a really well-functioning sample, it is important to pay attention to the proper ratio of surface to sample, the structure and dynamics of the sample, and the relationship between the coupling elements. It is also very important how the repetition appears and how pronounced it becomes.

While Viola's illustrations are mostly characterized by figural representation and specific humor, more abstract, more abstract patterns have emerged for NON +, the first of which is SHADOW collection is now being introduced in our webshop as a naming example.

We are very happy to work with Viola and we are sure that exciting and popular pieces will be born from the collaboration for NON + fans as well!
