NON+ is 10 years old - Interview with Saci Kiss, founder-designer of NON+

10 éves a NON+ - Interjú Kiss Sacival, a NON+ alapító-tervezőjével

NON+ is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. To mark the anniversary, the brand has expanded its offering with a limited edition birthday capsule collection . We spoke with Kiss Saci, the founder and designer of NON+, about the changes and constancy of the past ten years.

- Less is more — that's the motto of NON+. What does this mean to you as a designer and how does this concept translate into other areas of your life?

- For me, the essence of the design process is the person themselves. This is true for fashion design, but I have also adhered to this principle in my previous graphic, decorative and interior design work. In the case of the environment and fashion, the clarity of the clothes draws attention to the person, which is why no decoration is necessary for the essence, i.e. the personality, to be expressed in its purest reality, in its puritanical, imperfect perfection. For me, there is nothing more important than the perfection of simplicity, everything else only serves to distract attention from the essence, pure honesty and self. I represent this spirituality in all areas of my life and I want to convey this to my environment. The messages appearing on the clothes also serve this purpose and strengthen it.

- The most typical material for NON+ pieces is cotton. Why did you choose this material?

- In the case of NON+ clothes, comfort and maximum comfort are very important, which, in addition to well-designed cut lines, is provided by the natural cotton material. If we are cramped in a pretty but uncomfortable piece, we will feel bad and we cannot truly be ourselves, our true self cannot assert itself. Pieces made of cotton can be sporty as well as elegant and extravagant, we can feel good in them all day long. This is also proven by the brand's ten years of successful operation.

- The brand is also characterized by a kind of long-term thinking. How are the principles of slow fashion implemented in the case of NON+ collections?

- NON+ styles are never designed for one season, but for the long term. That is why high-quality materials and workmanship are important, which allows the pieces to be worn for many years and, due to their simplicity, can be combined well with other designer pieces. It is important to me that Our products are produced locally, thereby supporting the domestic textile industry.

- What do you think makes a brand credible?

- In addition to the previously listed aspects, I believe that conscious planning, self-identity, and a restrained, modest - not loud and intrusive - attitude can be exemplary. The principle of less is more is therefore important in behavior, speech acts, and lifestyle as a whole, and thus becomes credible.

- You regularly collaborate with Hungarian designers working in different fields. For example, for the anniversary collection, Judit Szolnoki-Szendrődi, the designer of Malinovka , created unique graphics. How did the collaboration come about?

- Collaborative projects play a particularly important role in the life of NON+. I believe that the added values are enhanced together. As a child of artistic parents, experiencing the freedom of creation, emphasizing artistic value and bringing it into everyday life is very important to me. As the brand develops, we reach more and more people, which provides a great opportunity for the work of the Hungarian artists we highly value to reach more and more people. This is not our first collaboration with Judit, we are happy to work together because we fundamentally share the same principles in many other areas of design and life. For the ten-year collection, we received a clean, distinctive visual concept from Judit, which fits perfectly with the style of NON+. In addition to the graphics, the pattern was also included on our limited edition canvas bag.

- Are you planning a special event for your birthday?

- The birthday collection is available from Thursday on the NON+ webshop and in the NON+ Showroom. The Showroom will be open for 3 days, with prosecco and lots of love.
